This is a three-part Lesson wherein Student(s) will examine the individual profiles of Jacob’s sons: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph and Benjamin, analyzing their early lives, strengths, failures, Tribal symbols, Jacob’s final blessings and the historical legacy of their tribes. Through discussion, activities, and reflection, students will connect Biblical narrative to themes of character formation, leadership, consequences and family dynamics. Each Student will learn to recognize one’s purpose in God’s eyes through the questions and discussion prompts. This Lesson is designed to help understand the history of the Twelve Sons, the Patriarchs of the Twelve Tribes of Israel.
This Lesson was designed for parents, guardians, educators and Students to learn more of the background of each of Jacob’s sons which will help build Biblical literacy and understanding of Israel’s origins. The content encourages critical thinking about character, choices and consequences while supporting interdisciplinary learning (history, ethics, leadership). The information presented helps Students reflect on identity, family roles and personal growth and provides a foundation for later and deeper study of Exodus, Judges, Kings and the Prophets.
