This is a six-part Lesson wherein Student(s) will work through a comprehensive dive into The Didache as a unified whole. It is designed to move from historical background through structural analysis to ethical application and creative response. Throughout the Lesson, Students will read excerpts from The Didache, analyze its structure and themes, discuss ethical applications and complete creative activities designed to deepen knowledge and engagement. Students will go beyond basic familiarity with early church history, and explore the Gospels and letters of Paul, which will enrich discussion. This teaching clearly points to the reality that every youth will carry, regardless of one’s culture and society, and will, to a large extent, be determined by the type and quality of their education.
 
Why should Student, and adults, spend meaningful time with a sixteen-chapter document written nearly two millennia ago? The answer is that The Didache addresses questions that are perpetually urgent: How do people form ethical communities? How do they identify trustworthy leaders? How does hope for the future shape conduct in the present? The Didache reveals all of this with a directness and practicality that is still striking today. Academically, this Lesson addresses multiple disciplines: historical literacy (situating a text in its time and place), critical thinking (evaluating dating debates, comparing texts), ethical formation (applying ancient moral wisdom to contemporary situations), and spiritual reflection (engaging the text as a living community document, not merely an artifact).
