Which Option is Best for You?

Professor Fox was Voted one of the “Top 10 Teachers”

in 2017 while teaching 32 live video lessons to
students 8 to 18yrs
on the online educational platform: www.Outschool.com and,
promoted lessons on www.teachable.com as taped live classes (2017 to 2024).

This is a two-part Lesson wherein Student(s) will learn about the five most likely career options available to all. What we will not compare and contrast is that of choosing to join a branch of the U.S. Military. This precept clearly points to the reality that every youth will carry, regardless of one’s culture and society, and will, to a large extent, be determined by the type and quality of their education; be it public school, higher education, military service or school of hard knocks. This Lesson is designed to help understand what options look like in preparation for a life after school or military service. Students will be immersed in an exploration of five major career sectors—Government, Union, Public Corporation, Small Business, and Non-Profit—to support informed career planning and self-discovery.

Throughout this Lesson Students will analyze the defining features, advantages and challenges of each sector, compare them using a decision matrix, and engage in interactive activities including matching, ranking and a sector-based role-play simulation. Through guided discussion, reflection and collaborative problem-solving, students will connect their personal interests and values to real-world career options, develop critical thinking and decision-making skills and gain practical insight into the diverse pathways available after graduation or service.

Why teach this lesson? Early career exploration is a proven driver of Student engagement, academic motivation and future readiness. Research shows that Students who participate in hands-on career exploration activities in middle and high school are more likely to feel prepared for postsecondary education and the workforce, make informed decisions about their futures and persist through academic challenges. By examining a range of career sectors, students learn to appreciate the diversity of work environments, organizational missions and professional cultures, moving beyond stereotypes or limited exposure. This Lesson also addresses equity by ensuring all students—regardless of background—have access to information about both traditional and less-visible career paths, including those that emphasize service to our Creator Yahweh, public service, collective action, entrepreneurship or social impact.

Integrating sector exploration with interactive activities and reflection supports the development of durable skills such as communication, teamwork, critical thinking, presentation skills and self-advocacy, which are all essential for success in any field. The role-play simulation, in particular, provides an authentic context for students to experience the complexities of workplace decision-making and to practice empathy, negotiation, and leadership.
