Recently there is recent rise in interest in Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI), the study of the relationships among psychology, the nervous system, endocrine systems, and the immune system. This is a Lesson about Whole Body Healing and what that means. Does it mean body, soul, and mind; or head to toe, or is it partly spiritual, part physical, and part psychological?
This lesson introduces students to psychoneuroimmunology (PNI), the interdisciplinary study of how the mind, brain, and immune system communicate. Students will explore how stress, emotions, and thoughts influence physical health, and how positive mental states can strengthen resilience. The lesson emphasizes practical strategies for achieving optimum academic wellness by balancing mental, emotional, and physical health. If you have wondered if there is any good science behind the saying, "You are what you think you are."; be it smart, confident, healthy, or lacking, hesitant, and sickly... it's all in your mind and therefore your body, and therefore your life; well, there is and I will share it with the class.
