This is a six-part Lesson wherein Student(s) will be introduced to the basics of grief and loss, explore healthy and unhealthy grief responses, and highlights pathways to recovery rooted in both research and Biblical hope. Students learn practical ways to support themselves and others through seasons of sorrow. Grief is the natural human response to loss. Everyone experiences it differently, yet Scripture, community and healthy coping practices can help us move toward healing. This Lesson helps Students understand what grief is, how healing happens and how faith communities can walk with those who mourn. This lesson provides a comprehensive, ready-to-use educational resource for families, church, small groups, pastoral training programs and grief support ministries. It draws on established grief research, Biblical theology and best practices in trauma-informed pastoral care to equip adults to offer adequate care.
The material is designed for mature learners across a spectrum of grief experience and theological tradition. No prior training in counseling or psychology is required. People in faith communities regularly face loss—death, illness, broken relationships or major life changes. Research shows that healing improves when individuals understand grief, express emotions safely and receive community support. The Bible affirms lament, comfort and hope, making this Lesson essential for spiritual and emotional well‑being.
