This is a five-part Lesson wherein Student(s) will explore Jesus within His authentic Jewish context—as a first‑century Jewish rabbi, Torah‑observant teacher and the prophesied Messiah of Israel. Students will examine Yahshua’s lineage, childhood, discipleship model, fulfillment of messianic prophecies and His participation in Jewish Feasts and Festivals. The Lesson emphasizes historical accuracy, Biblical literacy and an understanding of the culture, community and times He lived and ministered in. The “Real Jewish Jesus” in a Messianic perspective, is found throughout Scripture with examples of Jesus as a Torah‑observant Jew. Yahshua’s teachings are rooted in Hebrew Scrolls and Jewish tradition, fulfillment of prophecy and typology, the Festival cycle and His earliest followers as entirely Jewish seeing him as the long‑awaited Messiah.
Understanding Jesus as a Jew, as a Hebrew, is essential for obtaining an accurate Biblical interpretation and understanding the continuity between Tanakh/Old Testament and the Brit HaDahsha/New Testament. Recognizing the Jewish roots of the a Bible Believer’s faith, be they Messianic Jew, Hebrew Roots, Torah keeping Baptist, Arab Believer, Christian, or other, helps Students to better appreciate the cultural world of the disciples and seeing how prophecy, history and practice converge in the Messiah. This Lesson helps Students avoid culturally detached views of Jesus and instead see him as He truly lived — within the rhythms, language, festivals and expectations of a Jewish and a Hebrew life.
